ANNUAL SALARY RANGE
Level I: $46,560 - $62,858
Level II: $51,386 - $69,372
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Level I: Requires one year of increasingly responsible telecommunications
engineering experience in radio, voice and data communications.
Level II: Requires three years of increasingly responsible
telecommunications engineering experience in radio, voice and data
communications.
Both levels require the equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an
accredited college or university with major course work in electronics or
communications engineering or a related field.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Proficiency with Lucent (Avaya) G3R and Intuity Voicemail Systems,
including experience with Cisco Systems Voiceover IP is preferred.
Knowledge of CAT 5 and 5E 6 is desirable.

REPRESENTATIVE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Ø Develop tactical and long-range plans for the Citys
telecommunications infrastructure; perform routine analysis on the design
and efficiency of the infrastructure to ensure that its current and future
structure will meet the business needs of the City.
Ø Act as project coordinator for projects of moderate complexity
including integrated voice and data switch, local area network, and related
systems.
Ø Assist in developing complex technical specifications for the
design or purchase of communications equipment including fiber optic
systems, cable switches and related equipment; evaluate communications
products; assist in the development and implementation of long-term goals
and objectives to meet the City's telecommunications needs.
Ø Research telecommunications equipment to ensure that it meets the
specifications established by the City; recommend design, construction,
installation, and maintenance of equipment.
Ø Prepare operational reports including project status, equipment,
network, inventory and Area activity summaries; develop and maintain
procedures manual.
Ø Participate in budget preparation and administration; prepare cost
estimates for budget recommendations; monitor and control expenditures;
participate in the selection of staff.
Ø Maintain contact with vendors to obtain information on product
changes and new products; call vendors for status reports on purchases.
Ø Attend professional meetings and conferences as required; monitors
the switch environment, including voicemail backups and PBX.
Ø Perform related duties as assigned.
