Hi!
We were in Cabeza Prieta today, and had plans to do your cache after the "El Camino del Diablo" cache. But it appeared to us that there is no publicly open vehicular route north from El Camino del Diablo itself, and we hadn't planned on a hike of that length when we came in.
So for a possible future attempt, I'd like to know is there a route from the North or northwest to the cache, or is it all about the hike? And if it is a hike, could you provide some suggestions as to the best approach(es)? Planning is everything when you're that isolated.
Good questions, I will try to update the cache page. The roads are posted "closed" off the El Camino Del Diablo Road only. And not only roads, anything looking like a faint trail is posted closed as well. However there is NO closed signs posting the Cabiza Prieta when approaching from the West, east or the North. Also the road leading northeast from Tule well to Christmas Pass is open. It looks like there is a closed sign on it but if you read the sign, It posts it closed later in the year. I am sure they are just trying to lessen off road damage to the preserve off the El Camino Del Diablo. Later b
