Thanks for the get-well wishes, Gale, and for the entertainment this afternoon while I fully awaken from the anesthesia.....and that is quite a story about Kazakstan. What beautiful scenery! Makes you wonder what the hider was doing there for 2 months....anyway...geography is an interest of mine and this is one way to "see" other parts of the world, when people hide caches, write up a little about the area and post pics! Just spoke with the surgeon who said "well, found a bunch of stuff I wasn't expecting...." so now I wait for the pathology report and hope "what he wasn't expecting" isn't something TOO abnormal! We almost adopted 2 children from here (long story). The history is tragic. The USSR conducted so many nuclear tests that the country is basically a nuclear disaster zone. The population has unbelievably high cancer rates. Exports of meat is forbidden because of the radiation levels in the bones of the animals. Children there are basically under a death sentence from the amount of "poisonous radiation" released during the tests, many of which were above ground (I think it was 400 above ground tests in 20 years). Too depressing to think about. I can probably find the WHO reports and the US Atomic Energy Commission reports on the radiation problems in Kazakstan if anyone is really interested. Do you Yahoo!? SBC Yahoo!
