Well, c'mon up here, Scott, the Prescott Nat'l Forest is open, UNFORTUNATELY. The Jeep Posse will be assisting the Forest Service to try and keep the idiots from burning down the forest and maybe Prescott itself. Moving out of AZ is always an option, Scott, but be sure to carefully research any area you might consider moving to, AZ is not the only place prone (in cycles) to drought and therefore big fires, and other places have: 1) Hurricanes 2) Tornados 3) Earthquakes 4) Mass Flooding 5) Blizzards 6) Big Fires (California, Nevada, Utah, New Mexico, etc...even Florida! 7) Major Fog (seasonal) 8) Tidal Waves 9) Horrid Insects (I lived in Louisiana, I KNOW) 10) Intolerable Humidity 11) Ice Storms (different than blizzards) 12) Freezing Rain (also different) 13) Avalanches 14) Mudslides 15) Sinkholes 16) Need I go on? Az isn't so bad when you look elsewhere....carefully. Trisha "Lightning" Prescott Volunteering all weekend to try and keep us from burning....what are you doing to HELP?? PS....my hubby "VStar" lived in Calif/Nevada/Sierras through the drought of 1986-1992 and guess what? The drought ended (and then they had bad flooding in 1997!) So, these things come in cycles, hang in there!!! On Tue, 1 Jul 2003 18:28:58 -0700 (PDT), Gale Draper wrote: I'm sorry you feel that way, but what do you expect them to do? It's not like they have any control over the drought. Closing the forests is about the only thing they can do. Even if you could guarantee you wouldn't start a fire, if one happens then they have to spend manpower and money to get you out. Given budget crises in this state, that's tax money they don't have to spare. I've lived here for 33 years, it's a part of Arizona life. It's just gotten worse because of the drought situation. Looks like the Coronado is pretty much all off limits again.http://www.azstarnet.com/star/Tue/30701HOLIDAYTRAVEL.htmlI don't want to start a debate over the issue of forest closures, we have pretty much hashed that one out already, but I think if they were planning on doing this, they could have announced it before people made plans for the 4th.This is no joke, I am getting very close to moving out of Arizona because of all the issues related to the drought and the lose of recreational areas.Scottscott@myblueheaven.comwww.myblueheaven.com____________________________________________________________Az-Geocaching mailing list listserv@azgeocaching.comTo edit your setting, subscribe or unsubscribe visit:http://listserv.azgeocaching.com/mailman/listinfo/az-geocachingArizona's Geocaching Resourcehttp://www.azgeocaching.comTill a voice, as bad as Conscience, rang interminable changes  On one everlasting Whisper day and night repeated -- so:"Something hidden.  Go and find it.
