Steve, (and all) I really liked the idea and have been making a point to welcome any new cachers I see in the Prescott area. (I have all the caches in the area on my watch list anyway). I welcome people even if it isn't my cache! I look at how many finds they have and if it is only a few, I send them a general "hello" welcome, along with an offer to help if they need it, and info about the azgeocaching.com website and list-serve. I've been doing it for, what, a couple months now (?) and probably have emailed almost a dozen. I think almost everybody has replied, favorably, one had a GPS question, one needed a hint on CHUMP's 'Don't Forget the S' cache (they were really frustrated, I didn't tell them too much, but I think they were able to find it. They were not familiar with urban micros) Anyway, I hope more folks are "mentoring" too....I think it would be nice to get a couple friendly emails if I was new to something. If so, I'd very much like to hear about your experiences with it, even if it's only "I sent out a couple of emails, never heard anything back". But I would like your guesstimate on how many times you've done it, if you're still doing it, and any other information you might care to add.   I'm trying to collect this information for the land management meeting I'm attending in mid-January. I'm hoping to use what I get from you as an example of how the caching community in Arizona is attempting to promote responsible Geocaching practices. You can either post the information here, or if you prefer email me directly.
